Public Statement
Host Stand appreciates feedback, we would like to add additional clarity for how we format our blogs and about the importance of scalability. We are an ingredient home, we do not count the most basic pantry staples in our total ingredient list.
What do we consider the most basic pantry staples? Water, Salt, Pepper, and Olive Oil. Those four things are we believe fundamental to cooking, and are included in most recipes here and by other food bloggers alike.
We aim to always lead with transparency if a recipe or video includes a dollar amount for the meal. We include estimated prices per serving, in addition to the total of the grocery haul. If we have ingredients on hand we will also note that this may impact the total amount if you do not have that spice and/or ingredient on hand.
We believe sourcing local produce, and shopping with small businesses goes the furthest in increasing quality, and oftentimes reducing cost in comparison to big box grocers.
We acknowledge a point of privilege that as a food blogger, I have the time to source ingredients, from multiple locations to ensure quality and reduce cost. Additionally some, not all expenses are considered a business write off. Extra bonus my job often includes receiving samples and gifts to try. As a food blogger my goal is to create both inspirational but also attainable recipes for you to enjoy at home. My primary focus is quality, and the reduction of waste, that fits into my family’s personal food budget. Please scale, and source ingredients that feel right for your family, and that align with your dietary and financial needs.
